PPKUKM and BPOM Monitor Food Products in Central Jakarta

The Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small Medium Enterprise (PPKUKM) Agency together with Drug and Food Monitoring Agency (BPOM), Wednesday (3/20), supervised food products at supermarket in ITC Roxy Mas and Pasar Takjil Benhil, Central Jakarta.

PPKUKM Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, said this program is conducted as part of monitoring activity ahead of Eid ul Fitr. The monitoring was run for packaged product, label, circulation permit, and expired time.

"Our focus for supermarket is food products for parcel, as well as food and drink products here," she said, Thursday (3/21).

According to her, this activity follows up on the letter from the Director General of Consumer Protection and Business Order (PKTN) of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade Number MR.03.03/75/PKTN/SD/02/2024 dated February29, 2024, regarding the implementation of Legal Metrology Supervision ahead of the National Religious Holidays (HBKN).

Meanwhile, Jakarta-based BPOM Head, Sofiani Chandrawati Anwar, explained of the 23 food product samples sold at the supermarket at ITC Roxy Mas, the team found five product samples that did not meet label requirements and two had damaged packaging.

"However, we did not find any food products mixed with dangerous ingredients," she explained.

Her side also supervised food products sold at Pasar Takjil Benhil, Bendungan Hilir Urban Village, Tanah Abang. As the result, her personnel found one cake contaminated with rhodamine b.

"The use of substances commonly used as textile dyes will have a negative impact on body health," she added.

Responding about this, Central Jakarta Vice Mayor, Chaidir, admitted has requested related trader to remove their products immediately.

Chaidir will request KPKP and PPKUM Sub-agencies to do training.

"We haven't give sanction yet," he said.
